Description

Crispy and flavorful Broccoli Tater Tots made with fresh broccoli, cheddar cheese, and Parmesan, baked to golden perfection. These bite-sized tots are a healthy and delicious snack or side dish, perfect for serving with your favorite dipping sauces.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 2 cups broccoli florets (fresh or frozen, steamed and finely chopped)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/3 cup breadcrumbs (regular or panko)
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Prepare a baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper or lightly greasing it to prevent sticking.
  2. Prepare Broccoli: Steam the broccoli florets until they are tender. Once cooked, finely chop the broccoli by hand or pulse it in a food processor until it reaches rice-sized pieces.
  3. Mix Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the finely chopped broccoli, shredded cheddar cheese, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, the egg, garlic powder, and salt and pepper. Mix everything thoroughly until well combined.
  4. Form Tots: Scoop approximately 1 tablespoon of the mixture and shape it into small tot shapes with your hands. Place each shaped tot onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them evenly.
  5. Bake: Bake the tots in the preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes. Halfway through baking, carefully flip the tots to ensure they become golden and crispy on all sides.
  6. Serve: Remove the tots from the oven and serve warm. They pair excellently with ketchup, ranch dressing, or your favorite dipping sauces.

Notes

  • You can use fresh or frozen broccoli; just be sure to steam and drain well to remove excess moisture.
  • For extra crispness, you can add a little more breadcrumbs if the mixture feels too wet.
  • These tots freeze well; bake them directly from frozen and add a few extra minutes to the baking time.
  • Feel free to customize seasoning by adding herbs or spices like paprika or onion powder.
