Ingredients
Scale
Burger Patties
- 1½ pounds ground beef (80/20 blend)
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 4 slices sharp cheddar cheese
- 4 slices crispy bacon
- 1 tablespoon butter
Burger Sauce
- 4 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon ketchup
Toppings & Buns
- 4 brioche burger buns
- 1 large red onion, thinly sliced and caramelized
- 1 avocado, sliced
- Optional: lettuce and tomato slices
Instructions
- Caramelize Onions: In a skillet over medium heat, melt the butter and add the thinly sliced red onions. Cook slowly, stirring occasionally, for 15–20 minutes until the onions are soft and caramelized. Remove from heat and set aside.
- Make Burger Sauce: In a small bowl, combine the mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, and ketchup. Mix well until smooth and set aside.
- Shape Patties: Divide the ground beef into 4 equal portions and gently shape each into a patty slightly larger than the buns. Season both sides generously with salt and black pepper.
- Cook Patties: Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook each patty for about 3–4 minutes per side, or until they reach your preferred doneness. Add a slice of cheddar cheese on top of each patty during the last minute of cooking to melt the cheese.
- Toast Buns: Lightly toast the brioche buns on the grill or in a toaster for a golden, slightly crisp texture.
- Assemble Burgers: Spread the prepared burger sauce on the bottom half of each bun. Layer with lettuce if using, then place the cheesy beef patty. Top with crispy bacon, caramelized onions, avocado slices, and tomato slices if desired. Finish with the top half of the bun and serve immediately.
Notes
- The combination of creamy avocado, crisp bacon, and sweet caramelized onions gives the burger its luxurious ‘Cadillac’ flavor.
- Substitute cheddar cheese with blue cheese for a more pungent twist.
- Grilling the avocado slices briefly before assembling can add a smoky, rich flavor.
- For a gluten-free option, use gluten-free burger buns.
- Ensure not to press down on the patties while cooking to maintain juiciness.
