Description

These Easy Chocolate Chip Muffins are a quick and delicious treat perfect for breakfast or snack time. Made with simple ingredients like flour, sugar, milk, and chocolate chips, they come together effortlessly and bake into moist, tender muffins with melty chocolate throughout.

Ingredients

Scale

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup whole milk (or plant-based milk)
  • 1/2 cup melted butter (or neutral oil)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Add-ins

  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven and prepare muffin tin: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and either line a 12-cup muffin tin with paper liners or grease the cups well to prevent sticking.
  2. Mix dry ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, baking powder, and salt. This ensures the leavening agents and sugars are evenly distributed.
  3. Combine wet ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk the whole milk, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract until completely smooth and combined.
  4. Combine wet and dry: Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients bowl. Gently stir together using a spatula or wooden spoon, mixing just until incorporated to avoid overmixing which can make muffins tough.
  5. Add chocolate chips: Fold in most of the chocolate chips, reserving a small handful to sprinkle on top of the batter before baking.
  6. Fill muffin cups: Divide the batter evenly into the prepared muffin cups, filling each about 3/4 full. Sprinkle the reserved chocolate chips on top of each muffin.
  7. Bake the muffins: Place the muffin tin in the preheated oven and bake for 18-20 minutes. Muffins are done when a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean or with just a few moist crumbs attached.
  8. Cool and serve: Let the muffins cool in the tin for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. Enjoy warm or at room temperature.

Notes

  • For a dairy-free version, substitute whole milk with your favorite plant-based milk and butter with a neutral oil.
  • Do not overmix the batter to keep muffins tender and moist.
  • You can add nuts or dried fruits along with the chocolate chips for variation.
  • These muffins freeze well; store them in an airtight container and thaw at room temperature before serving.
