Description

This grilled broccoli recipe offers a flavorful and healthy way to enjoy fresh broccoli, featuring a zesty lemon and garlic marinade with a hint of spice. Perfect as a side dish, the broccoli is charred to perfection on the grill, delivering a smoky taste with tender-crisp texture in just 20 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale

Broccoli

  • 2 lb broccoli, trimmed and quartered into small florets

Marinade & Seasoning

  • â…“ cup olive oil
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice (freshly squeezed)
  • ½ tsp red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tbsp lemon pepper seasoning
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt (kosher salt), to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Broccoli: Trim the broccoli stems and quarter the broccoli into smaller tree-like florets. Place the florets into a large mixing bowl to prepare for seasoning.
  2. Season the Broccoli: Add olive oil, lemon pepper seasoning, garlic powder, kosher salt, black pepper, red pepper flakes, and the juice of one lemon to the bowl. Toss everything thoroughly to evenly coat all the broccoli florets with the marinade and spices.
  3. Grill the Broccoli: Preheat the grill to medium heat. Place the seasoned broccoli florets directly on the grill grates. Grill them, turning every 2 to 3 minutes, until they develop a slight char and become fork-tender, which should take about 8-12 minutes depending on your grill’s heat.

Notes

  • Use fresh lemon juice for the best flavor impact in the marinade.
  • Adjust the red pepper flakes according to your spice preference or omit for less heat.
  • Grilling time may vary based on the size of broccoli pieces and grill temperature; watch for slight charring and tender texture.
  • This recipe can be adapted to an oven broiler if a grill is unavailable.
  • Ensure you turn the broccoli frequently to avoid burning and achieve even cooking.
