Ingredients
Scale
Lamb Patties
- 1 lb ground lamb
- 2 1/2 tsp dried rosemary
- 2 tsp dried oregano
- 2 large garlic cloves, grated or minced
- 1/4 small onion, grated or finely minced
- 1 tsp kosher salt
- 1 large egg yolk
- 3 tbsp plain breadcrumbs (panko works too)
- 1 tsp olive oil (for mixing)
- 1/2 tbsp olive oil (for cooking)
Dill Greek Yogurt Sauce
- 1 cup Greek yogurt
- 1 tsp dried dill
- 2 tsp lemon juice
- 1 tsp olive oil
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Assembly
- 1 medium cucumber, thinly sliced
- 15 mini pitas (or slider buns if preferred)
Instructions
- Prepare the Lamb Patties: In a large bowl, combine the ground lamb, dried rosemary, dried oregano, grated garlic, grated onion, kosher salt, egg yolk, plain breadcrumbs, and 1 teaspoon of olive oil. Mix gently until just combined, being careful not to overmix to keep the patties tender. Divide the mixture evenly into 15 portions, then shape each portion into a ball and flatten into small patties sized to fit inside mini pitas.
- Cook the Patties: Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium-high heat and add 1/2 tablespoon olive oil. Place half of the patties on the skillet, pressing each down slightly with a spatula. Cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side, until the patties are golden brown and crisp on the outside. Remove and repeat with the remaining patties, adding more oil if needed.
- Make the Dill Greek Yogurt Sauce: In a small bowl, stir together Greek yogurt, dried dill, lemon juice, and 1 teaspoon olive oil. Season the sauce with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste, mixing well to combine all the flavors.
- Assemble the Sliders: Carefully cut a slit in each mini pita pocket to create a pocket for the filling. Place one lamb patty inside each pita, add a generous dollop of the dill Greek yogurt sauce, and layer with thin slices of cucumber. Optionally, garnish with extra dill for added freshness and presentation.
- Serve and Enjoy: Serve the lamb sliders warm for a delicious Mediterranean-inspired bite-sized meal, perfect for parties or casual dining.
Notes
- Do not overmix the lamb mixture to keep patties tender and juicy.
- Using panko breadcrumbs helps provide a light texture to the patties.
- The dill Greek yogurt can be prepared in advance and refrigerated to enhance the flavors.
- Mini pitas are ideal, but slider buns can be used as an alternative.
- If desired, garnish sliders with fresh herbs like parsley or extra dill for more aroma.
