Description
Taco Crescents combine seasoned ground beef, creamy cheese, and flaky crescent rolls into a deliciously easy-to-make appetizer or snack. Ready in just 25 minutes, they offer a perfect blend of cheesy, savory flavors wrapped in golden, buttery pastry.
Ingredients
Scale
Meat and Seasoning
- 1 lb lean ground beef or ground turkey
- 1 (1-oz) package taco seasoning
Cheeses
- 1 (8-oz) package cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Pastry
- 3 (8-oz) cans refrigerated crescent rolls
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375ºF to ensure it reaches the perfect temperature for baking the crescents evenly.
- Cook Ground Meat: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef or turkey until browned. Drain off any excess fat to keep the filling from becoming greasy. Then stir in the taco seasoning, cheddar cheese, and softened cream cheese until everything is well combined and creamy.
- Prepare Crescents: Separate the crescent rolls into individual triangles. Cut each triangle in half lengthwise to create smaller pieces that can better hold the filling.
- Assemble: Place a heaping tablespoon of the beef and cheese mixture onto the wider end of each cut crescent triangle. Carefully roll them up starting from the filled wide side toward the point, sealing the filling inside.
- Bake: Arrange the filled crescents on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for about 15 minutes or until they are puffed up and golden brown on top.
Notes
- For a spicier kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or chopped jalapeños to the meat mixture.
- Ground turkey is a healthier alternative to beef and works well in this recipe.
- Serve warm with salsa, sour cream, or guacamole for dipping.
- Freshly shredded cheddar cheese melts better than pre-shredded varieties due to anti-caking agents.
- To save time, soften cream cheese by microwaving it for 15-20 seconds if chilled.
