Description

This quick and easy tortilla pizza recipe transforms simple flour tortillas into crispy, delicious personal-sized pizzas. With a crispy crust, gooey mozzarella cheese, and your choice of toppings, it’s perfect for a fast meal or snack. The recipe uses a preheated oven to bake the pizzas at high heat, ensuring a golden crust and melted cheese in just minutes.

Ingredients

Scale

Base

  • 2 Flour tortillas
  • Olive oil, for brushing

Sauce

  • 1/4 cup pizza sauce or marinara sauce

Cheese

  • 3/4 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Toppings (Optional)

  • Pepperoni slices or cooked sausage
  • Sliced mushrooms
  • Diced bell peppers
  • Sliced onions
  • Black olives
  • Sliced tomatoes
  • Fresh basil leaves
  • Grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). This high heat will help create a crispy, golden crust on the tortilla pizza.
  2. Prep Your Tortilla: Place one flour tortilla on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat. Lightly brush the top of the tortilla with olive oil to help it crisp up nicely during baking.
  3. Spread the Sauce: Evenly spread a thin layer of pizza sauce over the tortilla, leaving a small border around the edges to ensure a crispy crust.
  4. Add Cheese & Toppings: Sprinkle a generous amount of shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce. Add your favorite toppings such as pepperoni, mushrooms, bell peppers, onions, olives, tomatoes, fresh basil, and a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese as desired.
  5. Bake the Pizza: Bake the tortilla pizza in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes. Bake until the edges of the tortilla turn golden brown and crispy, and the cheese is fully melted and bubbly. Watch carefully to avoid burning.
  6. Slice & Serve: Remove from the oven and allow to cool for a minute or two. Slice into wedges, optionally drizzle with extra olive oil or sprinkle red pepper flakes for added flavor, and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use thin flour tortillas for the best crispiness.
  • Adjust toppings to your preference – less is more to keep the tortilla crisp.
  • Keep an eye on the pizza while baking to prevent burning.
  • You can prepare multiple pizzas at once by arranging tortillas on the baking sheet, but ensure they don’t overlap.
  • For extra flavor, brush the tortilla edges with garlic butter before baking.
  • This recipe is best served fresh for optimal crispness.
